Damaged Hair care

Undoing the damage caused to the hair will take both time and effort. But it is definitely not a daunting task. While certain specific products do have the ability to repair the hair, in some rare cases very little can be done to the damaged hair. The only solution in such cases would be to wait for new hair to grow. Some of the solutions for damaged hair care include:

* Avoid daily washing of hair unless it is extremely necessary. Washing hair daily is recommended for those who lead an active outdoor or athletic life. As long as the hair stays reasonably clean and easy to manage, hair can be washed once in about 3 days. Daily washing strips the scalp of its essential oils. Use shampoos that are protein enriched and don’t wash away the natural oils.

* Do not rub the hair vigorously as excess friction can cause hair to break off.

* Always use a wide toothed comb and comb the hair gently. Do not comb hair when it is wet, as the hair is very weak. And do remember that back-combing is one of the causes of hair breakage.

* Keep hair hydrated with mild shampoo and rich conditioner. Use extra gentle shampoo for color treated hair. Use a conditioner that contains protein. Hair conditioner improves the colorant in dyed hair and imparts smoothness to the hair. Moisture and protein content in the conditioner protects the hair from harmful sun rays and harsh winds by forming a film on the hair shaft. Conditioner is very essential for dry, brittle and damaged hair. Rinse conditioner thoroughly as the residue can make hair dull and unmanageable.

* Allow hair to dry naturally. If at all hair dryer must be used, then turn it on at its lowest setting. Heat from dryers, curling tongs and other styling equipments are damaging to hair.

* Try wearing a hat or scarf when going out in the sun.

* The sun’s UV rays are harmful not only to the skin but also to the hair. Excessive exposure in the sun makes the hair dry. So use a leave-in conditioner or a protecting spray.

* A weekly head massage strengthens the roots and improves blood circulation. Doing it even for two to three minutes will stimulate the scalp and prove effective.

* Do not bleach the hair very often as it strips the hair of its natural oils.

* Experts recommend the use of a drop of silicone serum to smooth down hair cuticle and add a bit of shine.

* Remember that everything sharp and hard will harm the hair.

* Deep conditioning treatment is the best solution for damaged hair. It can be done weekly under expert guidance.

* For tying up, hair larger bands are always better than smaller ones.

* Always wash hair with low temperature water as hot water dissolves the natural scalp oil. It is the scalp oil which provides protection and natural shine to the hair shaft.

* Do brush your hair before showering. This helps in preventing tangles. Also, while shampooing do not pile up all your hair on top of your head, as this will also result in unnecessary tangling of hair, which in turn will result in breakage.

* Do not use too much of shampoo as the harsh chemicals in it are liable to harm the hair in the long run. An ideal shampoo should be neither highly acidic nor alkaline.

* Try to find out whether the product you are using is suitable for your hair. Only time and constant experimentation will tell which product works best for you. Hair product manufacturers offer different products for varying seasons. As climatic conditions also play a part in damaging the hair, it would be a good idea to use different products for summer and winter.

* Frequently trim the hair to avoid split ends. And do remember that usage of good quality scissors is a vital part of a good hair care regimen.

* While holidaying near the sea, hair must be thoroughly cleaned of all sand and salt. It is advisable to apply oil or conditioner and a tight fitting cap if you are swimming in a pool.

* While women in the Asian countries have oiled their hair for centuries, usage of oil as a conditioner is gaining popularity all over. Hair experts recommend using jojoba oil.

* Steaming of hair allows opening of the pores and allows deeper penetration of the vital ingredients in the conditioners.

* Take a good, healthy diet rich in proteins. Additional supplements can also be taken under medical supervision in cases of pregnancy and illness.

Ride a Bike, Eat Right and Loose Some Extra Pounds

Weight loss is the biggest obstacle between most people and current standards of beauty. Part of the problem is that our current standards are based on the less-than-one-percent of the population who manages to stay 15-20 pounds underweight, but the weight loss situation in the U.S. in particular has worsened drastically because we eat like pigs. Food is cheaper in the U.S. than anywhere in the world, junk food makes up a large part of the national diet, and most of us are addicted to sugar. Add this to the fact that most Americans now get about as much daily exercise as the average bookend, and the big mystery behind the explosion of heart disease and intestinal problems experienced by so many Americans is explained with utter clarity.

The common understanding is that combining diet and exercise is the best weight-loss solution. If I had to pick one, I’d choose increased exercise. Exercise raises your metabolism for hours after you’re done working out, increasing your fat-burning capacity. It also makes you feel good, keeps your bones strong and reduces stress. A half-hour of aerobic exercise three or four times a week is the general prescription for good muscle tone and healthy aerobic capacity.

White patches

White patches ~ what can you do about it?

Have you ever wished that you could just erase the white patches on your face with an eraser? Read on to learn about what causes them and how you can remove them.

What are they?

White spots are patches that are lighter than the actual complexion of the skin, and they usually appear, disappear and reappear through time. They are usually seen outside the ‘T-Zone’ of the face which is through the forehead going down from the nose area to the chin or the area of the face that is usually the oiliest. For some time, these patches can be camouflaged with a make-up base but you cannot always hide them under well-applied makeup.

What causes them?

The exact cause of such white spots varies from person to person and it is advisable not to self-examine the problem and experiment with products which could worsen the condition. One needs to seek dvice from a dermatologist and learn the reasons behind the problem. However, some of the possible causes could be:
• Deficiency of iron, vitamin or protein
• Exposure to sun
• Dryness of the skin

What can you do?

You need to moisturise the area with moisturising creams meant for dry skin. If the ‘T-Zone’ is oilier, use a cleanser for oily skin. You could also opt for natural substances like Witch Hazel as a freshener to balance your oily and dry areas.

Herbal remedies

• To correct any form of discolouration of the skin, cabbage is generally very helpful. Dab on some cabbage juice on the spots or eat a lot of cabbage to cure the problem from within.
• Jojoba oil is good for white patches. Grape seed oil also helps eradicate blotches—it is especially useful for mature skin which tends to be more dry; this oil will penetrate the skin, carrying vitamins and minerals deep into the skin, and help
correct the white patches with nourishment.

Home Treatments for Sunburns

Posted by admin | Beauty Tips | Saturday 18 April 2009 10:52 pm

Some people love the look of sun-kissed golden tanned skin - and after a day at the beach can also go home with painful sunburns. Soon they realize that the rays are not as gentle as they may appear. Excessive exposure to sun can result in serious sunburns.
However, if it already happened then at least try to relieve the pain with the following homemade treatments for sunburned skin.

Milk

You don’t have to spend a fortune on cosmetic products when you have the basic ingredients for a sunburn treatment right in your kitchen.
Prepare the following mixture: add a cup of cold milk to 4 cups of cold water and if you wish additionally put a couple of ice cubes in the lotion.
Soak compresses (cloth or a towel) in milk - it is known that milk in itself can relieve the pain caused by sunburns.

Apply the compress to the sunburnt areas, keep it on for 15-20 minutes. Repeat the treatment whenever you feel like it’s necessary.

Tea Bags and Mint

Another remedy for sunburns is tea, more specifically tea bags.
Tea contains tannic acid which can reduce the heat from the affected areas. It is easy to prepare and can immediately soothe your tortured skin.

Take a bowl and boil some water. Then put some tea bags and mint leaves into another bowl and pour the hot water over the ingredients. Cover it and leave it for 1 hour.

The sunburn treatment should be put then into the refrigerator to cool. Dip some cotton pads into the mixture and wipe the sunburns with it. The peppermint will refresh your skin and body, the tea will also relieve the pain.

Vinegar

Vinegar is a non-chemical remedy for sunburns, especially apple cider vinegar. It will immediately will draw out the heat from the sunburnt areas.
Similarly to tea, the acid from this liquid can moisturize the skin and prevents blistering.

All you need is some white or apple cider vinegar and a spray bottle. Pour some into the bottle, and apply it to the burnt skin. If it’s more comfortable for you, you can also use a cotton pad. Repeat this ritual whenever you feel like the pain is increasing.

If you have dark skin what makeup colors will work best?

Posted by admin | Nepali Beauty | Saturday 18 April 2009 10:48 pm

It depends not only on the depth or darkness of your skin, but even more on the underlying skin tone. Is your skin olive toned, warm, with orange undertones or blue-black? Olive toned and orange toned skin can become too orange if you use an orange colored foundation, but pinkish tones clash and make a mess of your natural color. For foundations, every woman should choose a makeup that matches her own skin tone as exactly as possible. But look for foundations with a more neutral shade rather than orangey ones. Remember that the purpose of foundation is to even out your skin tones, not change them. Lipstick and eye colors should be in a warm or cool palette to match your skin tones. Coral, brown, gold, orange or reddish-orange are good for warm skins. For cool tones, look for true reds, pinks and plum colors—reds with blue undertones. If you stick with colors in your general skin tone, you won’t go wrong.

How can I transform from a dork to beautiful girl?

Posted by admin | Beauty Tips | Saturday 18 April 2009 10:45 pm

The transformation from dork to beauty is no less difficult for the fact that it all—every bit of it—happens between your ears. Maybe you don’t want to hear that, but it’s so true that I can’t do anything but say it to you and then say it again. Now, I’m going to tell you everything I know about being a dork and also about being a beauty, and I’m also going to begin by telling you that some days I’m the biggest dork who ever crashed into a light fixture and other days I am unbelievably sexy and charming and guys make passes at me left and right. I’m also going to point out to you that Meg Ryan made her fortune in When Harry Met Sally by being a dorkette-princess and also pretty, so nobody cared that she didn’t want her foot to touch.

I knew a guy once who fell so much in love with a Girl Scout Leader that he was afraid to speak to her, even though the Girl Scout Leader uniform is one of the dorkiest outfits imaginable. But he saw this woman romping and playing in a field with a bunch of young kids, and he was immolated by a passion as rare and fine as if she had been wearing a long, black evening gown and introducing other stars at the Oscars. Which is to say that when love finds you, it matters not what you are wearing, even if it’s knee socks.

So, how can you switch from dork to beauty? It’s a psychological truth that people get stuck in old patterns because they reject themselves. Ever notice how, the more nervous you get about something going wrong, the better the chance that something will go wrong? Now notice how, when you feel relaxed and happy and aren’t thinking about what other people think of you, things seem to go better.

You might not be a dork; you might be quirky, which is a highly desirable quality. Don’t throw out the things you think dorky now, because you may discover that in five years you’ll realize they were great qualities. Start your transformation by recognizing the dork qualities you are imbued with as potentially brilliant, desirable pieces of self that other people wish they had. You’re probably smart; your question is smartly written. Smart people are usually funny, too, which some poor slobs can’t manage even with a joke book. Embrace your inner dork, love her up a little and tell her it’s okay. I’m going to assume you’re not happy with your appearance. Appearances change—in fact, you’d be surprised how much they can change in a short period of time. Take a look at yourself in the mirror, frowning. Now, smile. I bet there was a big change right then! So, only after you have embraced your inner dork, you can start working on changing appearance, but do the inner work first, because that’s where all change starts.

Once you start to think that dorkhood might not be a life sentence (and once you realize that the really smart, funny guys are all dorks hiding in computer labs and physics classes just dying to meet girls who understand things like RAM and ions), you may find that the more relaxed and forgiving attitude you have toward yourself starts to become visible. You may frown less and smile more. Stress-related things like breakouts, tooth grinding and being accident prone may ease up too. Once you forgive yourself for not being born a supermodel, you can move on to your own unique kind of beauty. Start with basics: get a good haircut and find a conditioner that makes your hair shiny and smooth. Find a skincare regime that works for you. Get your eyebrows done by a pro if you aren’t sure where to start, but if your eyebrows aren’t bushy, leave them alone; they’re probably great the way they are. Don’t mess with things that are good enough. And don’t make drastic changes to your overall look or you’ll probably feel self-conscious. Start slow. If you usually wear ratty jeans and sweatshirts, buy jeans that fit and look smart, and turn the sweatshirt to a sweater or a hoodie. Notice what you like about clothes other girls are wearing are incorporate the pieces into your own wardrobe. Go slow, stay true to yourself. Your own, dorky, beautiful self.

Do guys think that short skirts are trashy on a first date?

Posted by admin | Nepali Beauty | Saturday 18 April 2009 10:42 pm

Guys have competing emotions. In general, the more naked women look, the better they like it. But, in general, the more naked women look, the more convinced guys are that said women are easy, or “trashy”. Men are easily sidetracked by women’s visual appeal, so it’s better to downplay the skin until you know him pretty well. Keep the skirts longer until you know if the guy is worth your time. If he can’t wait, he’s probably going to be gone once he gets under that skirt anyway.

What should I wear on a first date?

Posted by admin | Nepali Beauty | Saturday 18 April 2009 10:40 pm

It depends. Where are you going? On a first date, part of what you’re exhibiting to your date is your potential for fitting in-or your ability to set trends.

If you’re at all shy or nervous about your fashion choices anyway, fitting in is probably the option you want because it doesn’t take as much nerve to carry off as trend-setting does. Find out where you’re going, and research what people wear in that location. If it’s really foreign to you, you may want to do a recon trip and go alone or with a friend before your date to see what people are wearing. If it’s something with established clothing rituals, like a golf game or the opera, you can probably find photos online that will give you ideas about appropriate clothing.

Clothing sends a strong message, and in dating it can speak clearly about our intentions or totally mislead our date. Wearing clothes that are clean, pressed and appropriate to the location and time are signals that you understand the world you’re moving in and that you value your date and yourself. Wearing sexy clothing tends to make men think you’re easier than you may truly be: to avoid misunderstandings, you may want to tone down the sexy look until he’s passed some of your tests. Overdressing is slightly worse than underdressing; it’s better to hit the nail on the head whenever possible.
